  LUMALAKI DIN ANG BATA MT. 18: 1-5       Ang bata ay maliit, musmos. Ang bata ay hindi pa ganap sa maraming larangan ng buhay niya. Mahina ang bata at maligalig. Walang karanasan sa buhay ang bata. Ang bata ay walang magagawa kung hindi tutulungan o sasaklolohan.   Bakit tayo pinapayuhan ng Panginoong Hesus na ihawig ang ating buhay sa isang bata? Hindi dahil ang bata ay bulilit, malambing at nakagigiliw, kundi sa katotohanang ang bata ay may natatagong kakayahan o potensyal. Maliit ngayon, pero magiging malaki balang araw. Hindi ganap, subalit magiging hinog at husto sa kinabukasan. Mahina, subalit magkakaroon ng lakas. Walang karanasan, subalit maaaring maging matalino at marunong. Walang magagawa ngayon subalit habang lumalaon, magiging malikhain, maparaan, at matatag.   Huwag nating gamitin ang mga kataga ng Panginoong Hesus upang manatiling bata, tularan ang mga limitasyon ng bata, o maging panatag na laging bata.   THE CHILD GROWS TOO MT 18: 1-5       A child is small. A child is not fully developed in many aspects of its life. A child is weak and vulnerable. A child is inexperienced in many ways. A child is helpless without outside support or assistance.   Why is the Lord Jesus asking us to model our lives on a child? The answer lies on the fact, not that the child is little, cuddly and cute, but on the fact that every child carries with him or her a potential. Small now, but big later on. Undeveloped now, but on the road to maturity. Weak now, but gaining new strength day by day. Inexperienced surely, but will be knowledgeable and wise one day. Helpless, but can be independent, creative and resourceful as the years progress.   We cannot use the words of the Lord Jesus as an excuse to remain a child, to imitate the limitations of a child, to be complacent in the status of a child.     I Santo NiÑo ng Mechelen (bigkas, me-ke-lun): Mechelen, Netherlands (ngayon ay Malines, Belgium)     (all images, thanks to the internet)   Madalas ituring na kakambal daw ng ating Santo Niño de Cebu and imaheng ito mula sa dating South Netherlands, dahil may pagkakatulad naman talaga sa tindig, ayos, mukha, petsa ng pagkakaukit at pati sukat. Ang imaheng ito ngayon ay nakalagay sa Louvre Museum sa Paris matapos na ito ay maging bahagi ng isang private collection. Wala syang anumang kasuotan o gayak na tulad ng ibang imahen ng Santo Niño kundi simpleng nakahubad lamang ang imaheng ito.   Halos pareho ang sukat ng Santo Niño ng Mechelen at ng Cebu, halos 12 inches o 30cm at pareho ang tindig, ang katawang ukit, ang puwesto ng kamay, at ang hawak na globo/ mansanas. May konti lamang pagkakaiba ang dalawa: ang mata na Santo Niño ng Mechelen ay nakatinging diretso, samantalang and Santo Niño de Cebu ay nakatungo nang konti at til...
