PUSO SA PUSO Nakakatuksong pagtuunan agad ng pansin ang pagpapagaling sa bingi at pipi sa ating ebanghelyo ngayon. Kasi naman, talagang kahanga-hanga ito! HEART TO HEART It is tempting to focus solely on the healing of the deaf man with a speech impediment in this Sunday’s gospel. For that is in fact, an astounding feat! Who makes the deaf hear? Who makes the dumb speak? Only Jesus could do that… but in his own unique way of doing things. Let us focus on Jesus’ way, his act, his move. Before the healing started, Jesus moved the deaf man away from the crowd. From the start, the healing was not to be interpreted as a wonder-working gimmick for the world to see. The Lord took the man off from the spectators so that he could be with him alone, total, present, and immediate. Those who saw noticed Jesus touching the man’s ears, touching his tongue with his spittle, groaning and then directly speaking to the man: Be opened! The world of Jesus is a world of hearts. May tradisyon sa inyong eskuwelahan na nagpapatingkad ng kaibahan nito sa katabing paaralan. Nakikiisa tayo at ipinagmamalaki natin ang tradisyong kinagisnan sa ating pinanggalingan. Ang mga tradisyon ay bahagi ng buhay sa pamayanan at may halaga ito sa atin. Binira ng Panginoong Hesus ang kaplastikan ng mga Pariseo at eskriba na nais sumunod ang mga alagad sa kanilang tradisyon. Bagamat hindi maiiwasan ang mga tradisyon, ang puso, ayon sa Panginoong Hesus, ang higit na mahalaga kaysa pagsasagawa ng mga minana at kinaugaliang mga kilos. THAT’S MY TRADITION! All human communities develop traditions. “Family traditions” galvanize gatherings at Christmas, fiestas and holidays. Traditions perpetuated in schools or universities mark the distinct character of their academes. People take part in and are proud of traditions in their hometowns and regions. Traditions are expressive of life in society and are laden with personal and communal significance. The Lord Jesus slams the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and scribes who take offense at his disciples who do not follow the traditions or the conventional way of doing things. While traditions are inescapable, the heart, Jesus says, is more important than the rote performance of inherited or established actions. MGA DAHILAN NG PAGTALIKOD Nakakatagpo natin si Hesus sa mga aral niya tungkol sa Tinapay ng Buhay, ang turo niya tungkol sa kanyang Katawan at Dugo. Makapangyarihang mensahe ito tungkol sa Eukaristiyo o Misa ayon sa pang-unawa ni Hesus at gayundin sa pang-unawang nais niyag taglayin ng kanyang mga alagad. Ang nakapagtataka ay kung bakit sa kabila ng pagsisikap ni Hesus na patunayang ang pagbabahagi niya ng kanyang Katawan ay bumubukal sa puso ng Diyos, hindi iilan kundi “marami sa kanyang mga alagad” ang umalis na at tumigil nang makilakbay sa kanya. Hindi nila naunawaan ang mga salita ng Panginoon. Mahirap lunukin. Mas mahirap tunawin. Kung tutuusin, marami namang tagumpay ang Eukaristiya ngayon. Maraming Katoliko, bagamat hindi lahat, ang nagsisimba pa tuwing Linggo at mga tanging araw ng kanilang buhay.
