GAANO KALAKAS KA SA DIYOS? Isang kasambahay ang bibili ng lotto noong nakaraang Disyembre. Naisip niyang huminto sa altar ng amo niya. Hinawakan niya ang imahen ni Jesus at mataimtim na nagdasal. Tapos, bumili na siya ng tiket. Alam ninyo, ilang araw pagkatapos, isa na siyang milyonarya! Ngayon ang daming nakapila sa labas ng bahay ng kanyang dating amo upang humawak sa imahen ni Lord doon bago tumaya sa lotto! Mahal ng Diyos ang mga dukha, mahihina, at mga inaapi, alam natin iyan. Nasusulat iyan. Pero sobrang mahal ba niya sila na gumawa siya ng maraming dukha sa mundo ngayon? Hindi ba siya nakikinig sa milyones na nagdarasal para matupad ang kanilang pangarap? Ang mga pagbasa natin ay gabay sa pang-unawa sa malalim na puso ng Ama. Sabi sa unang pagbasa (Sirach 35/ Ecclesiastico 35), sabi sa atin, “ang dalangin ng mapagpakumbaba ay tumatagos sa mga ulap at hindi tum

HOW POWERFUL IS YOUR PRAYER? A housemaid decided to buy a lotto ticket just before Christmas last year. For the first time before leaving the house, she thought of approaching her master’s altar. There she touched fervently the image of the Risen Christ and prayed. She then bought the lotto ticket. Days after, she was a millionaire! Now, so many people are lining up outside her former master’s house to touch the image before buying going to the lotto store! God is close to the poor, the weak and the oppressed, that’s on record. But does he love them so much he created many of them on the earth? Does he not listen to the prayers of the million others who want their dreams to come true? The readings guide us to enter deeper into the heart of the Father. The first reading tells us that the “prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds… and the Lord will not delay.”

BIBLE SABOTAGE How do you use the Bible? …to prove that other religious groups are on the wrong path? …to support your own ideas and beliefs? …to shame and defame others’ lifestyles? …too show off to your friends that you are spiritual and more enlightened than they are? …or to avoid any problems like the above, just never use your Bible (that’s the Catholic way)! We love the Bible yes, but we “sabotage” the Word of God many, many times! Our second reading today speaks to us glowingly of how precious the written Word of God is. …Inspired by God, useful for teaching, refutation and correction, and for training in righteousness. … we must be ready to proclaim the Word and to be persistent in doing so. Nowhere does St. Paul say that the Word of God must be used to ignite feuds among fellow Christians, or with other religions… He did not say that the Word of God

PAG-SABOTAHE SA BIBLIYA Paano ka gumamit ng Bible? …para patunayan na ang ibang grupo o relihyon ay nasa maling landas? …para suportahan ang mga paniniwala mo …para ipamukha sa iba na liko ang pamumuhay nila? …para ipagmayabang na banal ka at mas naliwanagan kesa mga  kaibigan mo? …o para walang problema, huwag na lang magbasa ng Bibliya (style nating mga Katoliko!) Mahal natin ang Bible syempre… pero maraming nagsasabotahe ng paggamit nito sa buhay. Ang ganda ng ikalawang pagbasa ngayon tungkol sa kahalagahan ng Nasusulat na Salita ng Diyos. …isinulat sa Inspirasyon ng Diyos, maaaring gamitin sa pagtuturo, pagtutuwid, pagtatama, at sa pagsasanay sa buhay na banal …dapat ipahayag ang Salita ng Diyos sa lahat ng panahon at maging masigasig sa paggawa nito. SA PILING NATIN   Sa ebanghelyo ngayon ng 10 ketongin na pinagaling, tila ang daling kunin ang mensahe. Di ba tungkol iyan sa pasasalamat? 9 na ketongin ang gumaling at nagmamadaling umuwi. Isa ang nakaisip mag-effort na bumalik ang magpasalamat sa Panginoong Hesus. Paano kung huwag muna natin isipin ang 9 na walang utang na loob na ketongin? At kahit ang isang puno ng pasasalamat? Ituon muna natin ang pansin sa Panginoon. Ang sabi sa mabuting balita, nang pumasok si Hesus sa isang nayon, sinalubong siya ng mga ketongin. Bakit ang dali nilang natagpuan ang Panginoon? E kasi, ang daling hulaan kung saan matatagpuan si Hesus! Sa piling ng mga tao. Kasama ng mga tao. Lagi siyang nasa lansangan at nakikilakbay sa mga kaibigan at dayuhan,  sa mga maysakit, kababaihan, bata, at mga mahihirap. Alam ng mga ketongin na tiyak na dadaan doon si Hesus… tiyak na makikita sila… tiyak na hihin

AMONG US The gospel about the 10 lepers Jesus healed can elicit instinctive knowledge of its message. It is all about gratitude isn’t it? 9 lepers felt healed and yet rushed out of the scene. One realized the miracle, and made an effort to return to Jesus and give thanks. But what if we focus not on the 9 ungrateful, forgetful lepers? And also not on the thankful one? Let us just focus on the Lord. The gospel says that while Jesus was entering a village, the lepers met him there… Why did the lepers so easily find Jesus? Well, because it was easy to predict where Jesus always was. He was among people. He was with others. He was always on the road journeying ... with  friends and strangers, with the sick, the women, the children and the poor. The lepers knew Jesus would pass by and see them… and would want to engage them  in  conversation, in love, and in healing.

TUNAY NA PATOTOO NG PANANAMPALATAYA Paano mo ilalarawan ang taong puno ng pananampalataya? …iyong laging handang makipagdebate at magtanggol laban sa mga namumuna at naninira? …iyon bang kabisado ang Bible, katesismo, at batas ng simbahan? …iyong kayang walang pagod makilahok, sumapi, at maglingkod sa mga gawain? …iyon sigurong walang sawa sa pagdarasal, sakripisyo at pagninilay? Nang lumapit ang mga alagad sa Panginoong Hesus upang hingin na “Dagdagan mo po ang aming pananampalataya,” ang ibinigay ng Panginoon na larawan ng matatag na pananampalataya ay ang pananampalatayang kasing liit ng butil ng mustasa! Nakakita ka na ba ng butil ng mustasa? Siguro hindi pa, at kung oo naman, tiyak hindi mo na ito matatandaan. Paano ba naman, sobrang liit nito. Parang tuldok na halos di mapansin! BEST PROOF OF FAITH How do you imagine a man or woman of faith? …one who is always ready to defend the faith from its critics and detractors? …one who thoroughly knows the Bible, the catechism and canon law? …one who serves tirelessly in every church organization, movement or committee? …one who spends his time in prayer, sacrifice, and contemplation? When the apostles came to the Lord Jesus to ask him “Increase our faith,” The Lord gave them the image of a robust faith – faith the size of a mustard seed. Have you seen a mustard seed? Maybe not, and even if you did, maybe you could not, since it truly was a minuscule, a tiny dot so easy to miss!
